This Cookie Policy explains what odokeep.com stores in your browser, and what the OdoKeep app stores on your phone. OdoKeep is a service provided by Rafael Soares, Porto, Portugal.
1The Short Version
This website sets no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies. Nothing here profiles you, and no third party is given a way to follow you from this site to another one.
All the site stores are choices you made on it: the language you read it in, the theme you picked, the hidden easter eggs you have found, and the fuel stations you mark as favourites. That is also why you never see a cookie consent banner: there is nothing to consent to beyond what is strictly necessary to show you the page you asked for.
2What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Some are strictly necessary to make a site work or to remember a choice you made. Others, which this site does not use, exist to measure audiences or to track people across different websites.
3What This Site Actually Stores
| What | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
NEXT_LOCALE | First-party cookie | Remembers which of the site's languages you are reading in. Written when you use the language switcher, or when you open the site in a language other than your browser's. | Up to 12 months |
odokeep-theme | Browser local storage, not a cookie | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme. | Until you clear the site's data |
odokeep-eggs | Browser local storage, not a cookie | Remembers which of the site's hidden easter eggs you have found, so the count survives a reload. Written only when you find one. | Until you clear the site's data |
odokeep:fuel:favorites | Browser local storage, not a cookie | Remembers the fuel stations you marked as favourites on the fuel prices pages. Written only when you mark one, and never sent to us. | Until you clear the site's data |
All four are set by this site alone, contain nothing but the choice itself, carry no identifier, and are never read by anyone else. EU and Portuguese rules require consent before storing information on your device, except where that storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you explicitly asked for. Each of these is written only because of something you did on the page, and serves only to remember it, which falls inside that exception and is why you are not asked to consent.
4What This Site Does Not Use
To be explicit:
- No Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, and no other analytics or audience measurement of any kind.
- No advertising cookies, no ad identifiers, no retargeting pixels. OdoKeep sells no advertising.
- No social network pixels or embedded tracking widgets.
- No cross-site tracking and no device fingerprinting.
- No cookie consent banner, because none of the above exists to consent to.
5Third Parties
The pages of this website are served as static content and do not load third-party scripts that set cookies.
The fuel prices pages draw their map with images fetched from OpenFreeMap, a free map service, as you pan and zoom. Like any image a page loads from another site, those requests reach OpenFreeMap with your IP address and the area of the map being drawn. They are images, not scripts, and they are requested without cookies. The Privacy Policy says more, including what happens to your location if you use "Near me" on those pages.
Links to the App Store and to Google Play take you to Apple's or Google's own site, which has its own cookie and privacy policies once you arrive there.
A private administration area of this site, which is not reachable from the public pages and exists only for the developer, uses a strictly necessary session cookie set by Supabase, our authentication provider, purely to keep that sign-in alive.
6What the App Stores on Your Device
The OdoKeep mobile app is not a website and does not use cookies at all.
It is offline-first, so your garage is written to storage on the phone itself and stays usable in airplane mode: vehicles, odometer readings, fuel and cost records, obligation dates, labels, your sign-in session, and your preferences such as language, theme, units and currency. That local store syncs to our database when you have a connection.
For OdoKeep's home-screen widgets, on iOS and Android, the app also keeps a small summary file on the phone while you are signed in, with no odometer readings and no amounts of money while the app lock is on, and never your licence plate. It is deleted when you sign out.
This is device storage, not tracking. It is described in full in the Privacy Policy. You can export everything you have to JSON or CSV from inside the app, and deleting your account from inside the app hard-deletes your garage data.
7Managing What Is Stored
In your browser, you can block or delete cookies and local storage for odokeep.com at any time, in the browser's own settings. If you delete the language cookie, the site simply falls back to your browser's language and you can pick again with the language switcher. If you clear local storage, the theme goes back to following your device, and the easter eggs you found and your favourite stations are forgotten. Nothing else stops working.
On your phone, deleting the app removes the local store from the device. Deleting your account, from inside the app, removes your garage data from our servers.
8Updates to This Policy
If this site ever starts using anything beyond what is described above, this page is updated first and, where consent is legally required, it is asked for before anything is stored.
